    D4 fire extinguisher

Does anyone have the genuine landrover fire extinguisher installed in the front of their D4 bolted to the floor (ie i don't have the expensive seats where you can attach it to the front of the seats)?

If so, apparently you were supposed to get a template with the kit telling you where to cut the carpet under the seat. I didn't get this, so i was wondering if someone could tell me what it looks like and whether i need it, or whether someone might be able to send me a photo of where to cut?

    Thanks very much

I have mounted mine to the rear of the passengers seat the base of the seat is sheet metal and I used 4 self tapers through the sheet to secure a CAMS approved bracket. I have a pic somewhere of this PM me if interested in the pic.

Have you tried Topix, there are installation instructions for most LR accessories. Search under the specific model / year that the accessory was offered for.

I'd be really interested to see what you find with this. At last service I asked the dealer to install my extinguisher on the passenger side floor (I was reluctant to start cutting and screwing self taping screws into the floor without knowing what was underneath) and was told they couldn't as there was no suitable mounting spot in front of the seat ......

The instructions indicate that if you cut a hole in the carpet near the front seat, there are two holes into which you can fit some press-in nutsert thingies, and then bolt the extinguisher to it.

However, it shows that you put a template under the seat and cut at 2 spots, but i don't have the template and don;t want to cut in the wrong spot

    cheers

irondoc - I just went to topix, put in English as language and UK as country, searched on the part number (VPLAS0041) and saw the following template:
    TOPIx - TOPIx

There are also fitting instructions there.

Rob, I think that's the template to cut, what looks like, the plastic fascia at the front of the seat. If you have a look in the instructions you'll see another one that is for the floor. Interesting that instructions include the template for the fascia but not the floor - perhaps it does not exist.

Lucas, can you feel the holes through the carpet near the inside front of the seat rails? If so, then maybe that will be enough of a guide for you.
    Cheers,

    Sean
