My money's on the handbrake.
Possibly a bit loose on the adjustment & the actuator is over travelling.
Had the trailer on yesterday but not with a whole lot of weight, maybe 3/4 of a ton.
I parked on a very steep hill nose up, as I switched off the D3 & opened the door I got the most horrible screech that went for 2 or 3 seconds. To me (& I'm half deaf) it sounded like when kids let air out of a balloon with the top stretched out, a high pitched pass wind sound.
I thought is there a problem with the air suspension?
When I got back in the car 30 minutes later I let off the hand brake, I usually can't hear the hand brake release with the car doors closed but I could this time, odd.
I tried the HB off & on a few times, no noise.
I have recently had the car serviced & the HB was cleaned & adjusted, I always insist on this as the car does a lot of dusty bush runs.
So, what do you reckon it was, hand brake or air suspension.
The noise has not occurred since.

Could be it sorted itself on the first application?
Yep I'll go with the handbrake also, could be full of dust and crap, a good clean out and adjust will sort it out.
Baz.

The EPB applies only lightly to start with but will increase as necessary up to its maximum effort if the vehicle starts to move. Nose-up on a steep hill with the extra weight is likely to be one of those occasions.
