    Coiled D3 on sand?

Does anyone know how the coiled D3's go on the sand? Are they in the same class as the D2 with CDL?

    I would have thought better.
    More power, terrain response.
My D4 is much better in the sand then my D2 2000 with CDL.

I thought coiled D3's didn't have TR. Maybe I'm mistaken.

    Doh!
Sorry....I assumed that they all had TR.
Still....I reckon it would be better.

    Mine seems fine on sand.
Haven't done much but so far no issues and has never looked like getting stuck.

I went to Fraser last year with mine and the biggest problem was the clearance. I had 265 60/18 tyres with standard suspension and it struggled with clearance. My mate following said I was constantly spraying out sand as I hit the ridge in the middle of the track. When I had the camper on - even worse. I have since put in OME 50mm lift with the same tyres and will be heading to Double Island soon, so can let you know the difference. My next step is to get 275 65/18 tyres so will get the extra clearance as well. The advantage of a coiler is you can get these tyres with a 2inch lift and travel at more than 40km/hr I hear. In my opinion, you just have to have the clearance a bit higher than the standard 4x4. I hope to have these tyres before Fraser this year so can compare. As for ride, comfort and power -- unbelievable!!

Weight and tyre profile height make more difference than power and torque. It would be good with lift and the highest profile tyres (not widest) that you can get under it.

    Cheers

Ps the d2 with legal high profile tyres...245/75 is a weapon in sand. Even stock tyres to well. I comfortably towed a dual axle road van over 2 tonn in soft sand and a 1.5tonn camper many times. Fraser including Indian Head was ridiculously easy with 75 profile tyres even in peak holiday period with no rain for ages and having to stop and restart in the cutting at Indian Head for other bogged vehicles. V8 just purred off insecond low and that was pre cdl which made it much better. The video of that holiday still amuses me

Traction Control cannot be disabled - the button on the dash disables DSC only.

TC and DSC are completely different systems albeit both work through the brake system.
