Today I added a new piece of under armour to my D3. Its a custom made front bash plate that I had laser cut to my own dimensions from 5mm Aluminium plate.

I originally looked at purchasing the Asfir front bash plate / sump guard, but my car has an original LR nudge bar fitted, and there's no way the two would play happily together. The nudge bar would've had to be removed to then remove the bash plate each time the car needed an oil change.

So after bit of fiddling around with cardboard cutouts, taking measurements and then a cardboard template, I had my very own front bash plate delivered.

It nestles pretty well between the big tubes of the LR nudge bar I think, and will better protect the lower half of the radiator from betting speared by stray branches when off road. At least that's the theory. I've yet to try it in earnest so fingers crossed.

As you can see from the pictures its just like a bought one.

It complements the other under armour that I've got including my GOE sliders and compressor plate, and Asfir transmission plate. Now I've started thinking about the diff and that vulnerable point near the rear where the exhaust pipes come close together and can get crushed. Oh well !
