Ummm nope, something is lying, unless you have a long range tank.
There is no way the D3 will get that fuel, economy on 82L
Dreaming never hurts!
Hi all, I did a search but perhaps being on the phone -search yielded mill finds so I'm posting.
Got the D3 3 weeks ago, gave it a full fill up, I've so far done 750km and the trip computer is showing just over 200miles still to empty (330km).
Mainly city driving with about 150km of freeway - If everything is correct and the trip computer is not cheating me I should get around 1100km from the tank which would mean fuel consumption of 7-8l/100km!!!
If that's going to be the case it's absolutely amazing!!!! 2.5 ton truck using that amount of fuel (diesel) mainly city runs is just unreal in my opinion..
I'll keep you posted
Cheers mike

The trip computer system is about 10% optimistic - so displayed fuel consumption 10% better than it is and displayed distance to go is 10% further than you will actually go.
On fill after a sedate country run I have often had 1200km distance to go showing but I rarely have got more than 1000km - that is in a RRS that is lighter, more aerodynamic but faster and more sporty than a D3 box on wheels.

Canaussie: you could be right! Long range tank could have been fitted - the car is an S with airbag suspension/terrain response and the guy who owned it and 2nd user did country kms... Even been in Tasmania from WA so it's possible he optioned it with another tank.
The last fill I did was 60odd liters and that was at 1/4 tank - I'll keep going for another 100-200kms and then fill it up![]()
Thanks Garry: what's got me surprised is the economy is on the up, this morning I had 190 miles to go and now I've got 220 miles to go..
Trip meter could be out but I expected the gauge to fall quicker than it has from half way anyway.
It will be obvious - is there a tank where the spare wheel should be under the rear - and if there is, there should be a spare wheel carrier on the back.
What sort of l/100km is showing on the message centre and do you reset it with each fill? Also you keep on mentioning "miles" and not "km" so is the message centre set up for miles or Kms.

Do you have a rear wheel carrier? If not the chances are you only have a standard tank or no spare wheel. ...
A long range tank is a expensive mod so chances are the person selling you your D3 would have been keen to point this out as it adds value to the secondhand price.
By the way fuel gauges on D3's can and do stuff up so be careful that you don't end up stranded somewhere with it indicating you still have 1/4 of a tank.
If the gauge starts to go up once it gets to around 1/4 tank instead of down then your gauge is stuffed.

Garry: spare wheel is where the spare should be - so unless it's a larger stock tank.. There is no other tank fitted - no wheel carrier.
Computer is showing 10.5 at the moment (10.5l/100km). I'm quoting miles because the rest of the trip computer is in miles - need to visit the dealer to have it reset.
TerryO: good point, I'll fill it up tomorrow just incase then and check.if again I get 60 odd liters it will give us an idea.. Last time it was 1/4 and had 60l - now 1/4 as well.
