See, once we went to bucket seats, power steering, closed our vents and wanted to wind up our windows - with a button things got out of hand.
We all want to replicate our road car and take it into the bush.
What happens when we have to remove the body to repair the non serviceable drive train?
I am amazed at their ability and am not game to drive one.
I love my Defender and S1 between chiropractor appointments.

It looked pretty stock too. Its good to the see the RRS with decent wheels and tyres. There has always been a debate about sand use, but you will find many people on this section have good success in sand, provided they are driven correctly/correct settings. Some on here will tell you that they are better in very soft sand compared to a D2. Some will say otherwise. If you forget long term running costs of each and just look at ability the D4 will serve you well. If you actually prefer the truck like style of the D2 then thats a matter of preference - as it is for me. No two people are the same of course.

What I didn't understand about the D2 in the photos was what happened to it's traction control.
Did the owner disable it because he fitted lockers?
My understanding from other posters on here is that the D2 without CDL traction control is very aggressive but that was not in evidence at all. I haven't yet driven mine in wheel lifting siuations but in sand it cuts in if you give too much loud pedal.
If you give anything with TC enough loud pedal with a wheel in the air you would overheat the brakes, so maybe driver technique also comes into it. Yes we know D3/D4 does all the thinking for the driver but is this what we really want?

I have just upgraded to a D4 SDV6 from my D2 TD5. What a difference. Driving the vehicle feels efortless with so much more power available. Only had some limited offroad sandtrack driving in which it seemed to go very well. Cant wait to try it out some more.
You're asking the wrong question.
The D4 would be a great addition to the collection.
