2010 D4 SE alarm keeps going off.

Hi, my alarm keeps going off as the vehicle is locked and safely parked. No errors showing up on the IIDTOOL. Any ideas what could cause it to do this or where I should start troubleshooting? Thanks. Andy.

I would start with looking at the bonnet switch as it might be out of adjustment or faulty.

What they said, the bonnet sensor seems to get gunked up and has a tendency to trigger the alarm. On mine, I was getting the alarm issue then after a few weeks I would occasionally see a bonnet open message while driving. I knew full well that the bonnet was not open.

Thank you. Disconnecting and reconnecting the plug then a spray of wd40 around the area seems to have fixed it.

For the next person, the switch is located under the bonnet hold down catch. ( look for the electrical wires )

Update. Error came back again. This time I disconnected the cable, used a paper clip to short circuit the plug and then wrapped it in tape. No more annoying alarms since but bonnet can now be opened without the alarm going off. Thanks for your help.

Just the other day my local LR specialist told me a story from a couple of years ago where he went to replace a 'faulty' volumetric alarm sensor that was going off all the time, only to have a spider crawl out from behind it. Killed spider, problem solved.

Electronic diagnostic gear will reveal which sensors are triggering the alarm - not sure if it's an error per se. Had a look for bugs living in the car?

Hi Bidds. There are no errors showing up through my iidtool. But it was definitely that switch. It's totally clean but broken. Cheers. Andy.

    Alarm D4

My alarm kept going off and when I checked the bonnet locks they were dry and rusty, I gave them it a squirt of WD40, I haven't had a problem since.
