    New Car Purchase

I'm looking at purchasing a new RRS not the new new RRS MY14.

My question is I've looked on car sales and what's left in the current MY13 model (as the new model has arrived) is limited in NSW but in VIC some dealers look to have the colour and interior that I want.

    1. So should I contact a NSW dealer make them aware of this to see if they car get a car for me from interstate?

    2. Or contact the VIC dealers buy one from interstate drive it back but how much will it cost me to transfer it into NSW rego?

I'm just after pros or cons from the forum and which method might get me the best deal?

    Hi ak.

I went through a similar exercise looking for my new 2013 D4 recently.

I started a thread on October 13 "New Purchase 2013 D4" or something like that.

I had a lot of replies some of which address issues you are concerned with such as buying interstate. Have a look at the thread, it may answer some of your questions.

By the way, I got my car from a dealer that I had discounted as their web site had no demos available and I was interested in either new or demo. We happened to be near them when we went out to lunch and called in. The had the best price I could find and their customer service was great. I bought a new car from them.

    Good luck with your search.

Thanks mate I'll have a read of your thread. Some might wonder why I'm not going for the New RRS, but to get low range you have to go with the next spec up which hits the price of close to $120K which is a little more than what I feel comfortable spending and I'm also not comfortable buying a first year production run. So I'm hedging my bets on the existing RRS.

I think you're wise to be wary of a new model. My father always said, and I agree with him, that it's best to wait at least a year so most of the bugs are ironed out.

Both myself and Basil both purchased our D4 from MLR (Vic) and both live in SA.

MLR will register on a permit for the drive home, you then sort it out once back in your home state...

If buying in Vic then don't attempt to register it there, just get the dealer to obtain an unregistered vehicle permit to allow it to be driven home in NSW then get it registered there as a new vehicle. I drove my new D4 home from MLR the same way.

I would look for as late as you can get TDV8 Diesel.

Exactly .. I towed a new van from Melbourne to bris on a permit - (in 24 hours). Then you head off to transport department with the dealer receipt to prove you own it & that it has never been registered before.

Drove mine home from MLR on permit as well.
No problems at all, didn't have to worry about any red light, speed cameras or tolls.....

You are supposed to drive the most direct route, but sometimes you seem to get lost
