There are a lot of variables but I went for a post '07 model as I had read that they sorted out a lot of the computer problems by then - and so far mine has been very well behaved...
cheers
I'm thinking of updating to a D3 in the next 12 months or so. Is there a year model in the D3s I should be looking at ? Older will be cheaper of course, but is there a model update that was a improvement. As in 2003 for D2 which got the centre diff lock.

Ade - your D3 will have a "7" as the 10th character of the VIN if it is a MY07 - which came with updated EURO4 motor, one-touch front windows, etc. If it is a "6" it is a EURO3 motor. They started making the MY07 in late August 2006, IIRC.
Brake recall: Land Rover
HPFP recall: Land Rover
Dealers will fix these for free - if they haven't been done.
Pretty sure you can enter your VIN in Topix to check if they were completed.
Cheers,
Rob
Why do disco owners need a diagnostic tool, and what is a DSC, and where do I find it?
Diagnostic tool required, because there are so many electronics on the D3/4 that it is just as important as a spanner or screwdriver if you have any intention of not relying 100% on a dealer or indie.
Dynamic Stability Control. Electronic trickery to stop you ending up in a hedge. Button to disable is on the dash, above the stereo, next to the hazard light switch.
