D3 chip upgrade from Davis Performance? + susp options for coil susp.

					Hi all,
I'm a newbie to the forum and have had an 05 D3 for a year TDV6 S, coiler.
Just wondering if anyone here has done a computer upgrade on the 2.7 TDV6 from Davis Performance in Nw Sydney. They claim increases of 144kW to 185kW and 440Nm to 540Nm.
Also, whats out there these days suspension wise for a D3 coiler. I know a few yrs back King springs did 40mm or 60mm lifts but I dont see them in there catalogue anymore.

 Cheers,
 Rod.

					Hello Rod,

I have the performance tune from Davis Performance on my D3 TDV6 SE. I have had it for a while now and am very happy with the result. The D3 is more responsive and meatier across the rev range.

 Cheers,
 Ash

I think fuel economy is slightly better. The trip computer usually reads 10.4
It gets used mainly for short trips.

I don't remember what the tune cost and don't have the paperwork easily at hand. I think it was around $800

 Ash

Hi Rod, I ended up getting a Dobinsons 2" lift for around $1100. Very happy with the result, slightly firmer ride but the extra clearance has transformed the car, especially in the sand.

					Thanks guys, much appreciated.
The sand ability was a bit of a shock after driving jap dual cab utes for a while, but got used to the fact I need to air down earlier rather than later.
Definitely will look at suspension soon.
Wouldnt mind some side rock sliders as well.

 Cheers,
 Rod

					Hi,Rod,
I got a performance chip from Davis Land Rover and also had heavy duty coils fitted over two years ago. I found the power a noticeable difference as I tow a 3 ton caravan with a ball weight of 320 kg, I found the upgraded coils worked extremely well, really no need for any weight distribution hitch, although I do connect them. I have towed the van with the factory tow bar and also the Mitchell Bros. tow bar.
I have towed our van all over OZ without any problems.
 Regards,
 Joc

I'm not towing anywhere near what you are. I'm assuming the new coils increase your ride height?

					Hi Rod,
I have put the OME 50mm springs on my disco about 6 months ago. The ride height is far better off road and on road road firmer around corners etc, but would prefer a little more in the back as it does not have the same clearance as the front by about 20mm. I went to Fraser Island a year ago with standard shocks, 18inch rims and tyres and was bitterly disappointed. Since then I have put the 50mm springs and also 265 70/17 BFG all terrains as well. Gave me just above standard height to get across the rutted out tracks of Fraser Island of Xmas time this year. Very happy. As far as power goes, I do not understand why people want an upgrade, the Disco has plenty of power and for the price of a chip I could put my foot down a bit more and still be way ahead money wise.
 Cheers
 Bren

					Thanks Bren.
Yes the D3 has ample power & torque, but when towing I still want to get the best fuel range possible without giving it a boot full too much.
Not 100% convinced whether I will or wont yet, but just exploring the idea.
Do you know if the shocks you got were longer to match your springs or are they still standard length.
 Thanks.

 Rod.
