The 2.7 ltr is no longer sold, but it had the 6-speed box. There are now 2 variants of the 3.0 ltr motor instead. Both have the 8 speed auto.

Hi All,
I am considering selling the D3 and stepping into a D4 via a novated lease, my D3 is currently in the for sale section, I haven't put it on carsales just yet.
Things I need help with,
The 2.7td D4, what are the main differences to the 3.0, is it mainly brake size and of course engine?
And the 3.0 can only fit 18inch wheels as the minimum size? What size can the tyres go up to, same as D3?
Does the 2.7 D4 have the 6 speed auto, or are all D4's the newer box?
Thanks,
Ben

If you are in a position to go for the more powerful engine, then I suggest that is what you should do. It will have the extra "grunt" to move a heavy vehicle, it will be more responsive, & provide a better & more satisfying driving experience.
So, I say, if you are ABLE to do it, then do it, otherwise I reckon you'll regret it in the future.
Pickles.
Fair call, thanks Pickles.
I guess I am a little concerned with the 3.0tdv6 as it has not been around for as long as the 2.7, but it is pretty much the same platform with a longer stroke? Or is it a completely new engine?
The earlier D4's are becoming much more attainable in price, only issue with that is the D3 is losing value. But that is to be expected.
I love my D3, and I am sure i will love a 4 just as much if not more.
The 3.0 ltr has been around for a while, first in the Jags, then the D4. It's a different driving experience, better acceleration and braking, so I'd concur with Pickles, get it if you can.
Cheers,
Gordon
Noted, the 3.0 it is. Thanks lads.
I'll give the D3 a month or so on here and then if it doesn't move I'll get it out to Carsales.
Cheers,
Ben

The reality is that the TDV6 2.7 is the base model so unless the original buyer optioned it up you won't get a lot of the goodies. If they don't interest you it won't be important.
As you have a D3 HSE it may be more important, things like captains chairs, HID headlights, dual zone aircon, premium audio, memory seats etc. are not standard and some of them can't be optioned.
Have a think about what is important and go from there.
The reality is the 2.7 goes very well and I don't know of anybody that complains about a lack of power and torque, the 3.0 is very nice however not a necessity. The 2.7 has the smaller brakes and has 18" standard wheels and can have 17" wheels fitted. The 3.0 comes with 19s and you have to buy special 18s to fit if you want them. 17s can fit if you are willing to change the brakes.
It will all depend on your budget and what accessories you want to fit.

Thanks mate,
All very good points, I went with the D3 HSE for the special goodies and comfort, so I will be looking for a more optioned D4.
There is a really top notch 2.7 D4 in the for-sale section and in the white, which is the colour I want.
But I will wait and go for more options in the 3.0.
And the wheel issue can be solved with a call through to Gordon for the 18's when the time comes.

With a novated lease; If you are going new, negotiate your own price with your own choice of dealer (and remember you should get a corporate discount and if your company has a fleet you should be part of the corporate program http://www.landrover.com/imagery/mar...ebrochure-v4lo ) find what spec you want and play dealers against each other.
Do not go with their price from their recommended dealer.
Get your own insurance not the lease company's one. You will find their one only covers payout amount not agreed value and you will find you are not covered off road.
