Thread: Double DIN gps/stereo

Do a search you can find double din facia adaptors and wiring adaptors on the web. Comes with the plastic front to match.

That's my question. Do I need the cage? Or do I use the brackets shown in those kits to connect the unit to the new front panel.

Non of the posts I've read, actually say how the unit is installed into the dash.

I'd like to make sure it is fitted solidly. I intend to do some 'proper' Land Rover driving.

I take it that the seller is US based - is the radio section compatible with our radio bands and frequencies etc?

Very unlikely it will be.
Also what about map updates.

i had a double din radio installed some time ago. It required a fascia kit, which came with a cage.

According to the specs it has the same frequency range as Australia uses.

I'll put IGO on it and just buy a new small GPS if/when I need map updates.

It seems that I might need the cage then. That's fine I'll get on of them as well.

I had a non gps Alpine head unit fitted

IVE-W535ABT. The installer also speced an install kit that allowed plug and play connection of landrover stereo harness/antenna and the ISO standard used by Alpine.

So kit came complete with harness adapter and facia kit to make it appear to be OEM.

for GPS, I use a 7" nexus tablet, which gave me additional flexibility.

you can get the fitting kits from ebay UK seller..or pay the stratospheric prices we get here.

Oh BTW..you will loose the car clock on the dash.
