I'm looking at buying an 05 TDV6 with 190k. Aside regular maintenance, is there anything else you guys would recommend budgeting for? I'm already thinking a transmission service, but is there anything else?
Too add to what Will has suggested, get a mega flush and new steel pan with the service to the transmisson and make sure they use Lifeguard 6 transmisson oil or similar, also some sort of diagnostic tool to help clear faults when or if they arise.
Baz.
Isn't there some issue with the water (or oil?) pump when the timing belt is changed requiring the housing to be changed in addition to the belt - search on here for that
Just an update to this 'blast from the past' thread. I recently bought Kym's (kmcd) D3 and it now has 511,000kms on the clock. Had a lot of the big ticket items done on it while he owned it and there's only a couple of minor niggles to fix when it gets serviced shortly. It's a credit to the original owners and then Kym that it is in such beautiful condition for it's age and mileage. So now I have a half million kilometer D3 to complement my 238,000km D1. What was I thinking? Well the permagrin kinda answers that question. Let the fun begin!
🥇[emoji106] great news. What year is it? I'm interested to know what suspension work has been done as well as major engine parts?
Update from my previous post - my D3 is now sitting at 258,000km. Auto trans rebuilt at around 208,000
