    Front park sensors

My wife & I ordered our MY 14 TDV6 the other week, but we still have some before its finalised, so I was wondering, what are the opinions on the front park sensors, are they worth the $900.00, (funny how none of the Discovery options are moderately priced) or go for the power mirrors instead..its one or the other

    Thanks

My D4 came with front parking sensors, I have fitted an ARB Bull bar and they no longer work. Must admit I do not miss them. Are you sure the $900 is just for the front sensors ?, if so I would think twice about it.

My RRS does not have front sensors but I wished I had them - $900 wow - I have a set of $60 ebay versions on another vehicle and they work great - if you want them same the $900 and get an after market set put on.

Yep Tony 900 big ones...nothings cheap as far as options go, as the car will also have the upgraded meridian sound system, I believe it displays a perimeter warning in the head unit display.

Technology pack is the best value if you are looking for front sensors.

You could retro fit the OE sensors for less than half the cost, if you're pretty handy.

I've got them fitted on my HSE as standard equipment. Basically, I class them as a "nice to have" rather than a must have. Once you know your car, it's not hard to judge where the front corners are and you can always be conservative when you park etc..

They can be annoying when you're deliberately parking close to something. I have found myself saying "I know, I know" when they start getting hectic at a close range

BTW I had an ECB bar fitted and the sensors work fine.

If you want I can take a photo of the screen when they're active - let me know if you do.

Hi Martin, you raised some interesting points, which have also crossed my mind...do I need another noise beeping at me when I have a fair idea where the front of it will be.

But I will take you up on your offer of the pic & thank you very much for that.

Looks like it may be the power folding mirrors instead.

X2 - took delivery of my MY14 on Friday with the front sensors as part of the tech pack - I definitely find them worthwhile. The screen also shows you graphically at which spot you are getting close and how close using coloured lines. Works well with the reverse camera/sensors too so the front corners of the car are covered when reversing out of tight spots like pillars in car parks.
