Hello stranger - where have you been hiding?

I have the same wheel carrier aka Frontrunner. The mechanism that limited the opening apparently failed and it seems had loosened and fallen off. It took Opposite Lock several weeks to get a replacement. Later the latching mechanism became loose which allowed the carrier to swing open when driving along.

I still think it is a good device, but I recomend regularly checking the various nuts and bolts. Perhaps some Loctite would be a good idea.

Just work Garry, been that busy that we have had no spare cranial space to focus on anything else.

Does anyone have the Frontrunner RWC with OEM reversing camera and if so does the spare wheel then obscure the camera view at all? Can you still use the camera to assist hitching up to trailer/camper? Regards, David

I have the Front Runner RWC and the rear camera. Yes, the wheel does obscure some of the camera view on the driver's side. The driver's mirror and the sensors make up for the blind spot. The hitch is still readily visible and the hitch assist function / zoom work normally. The trailer reversing functions also work normally.

I have partially covered the reversing sensor (driver side near hitch) as described elsewhere so that it functions as required.

Thanks for that Fred. I have a MY14 HSE D4 on order and wanted to know what effect putting a RWC would have on the OEM camera (I have aftermarket on my D3). My new D4 will also have the Reverse Traffic Detection (which I presume will use the sensors in rear bumper). Not sure whether that will be affected?

For yours and other's interest I have just learnt (via personal email communication) from Dolium that an upgraded Front Runner RWC will be up on their website in about 2 wks. It will have a gas strut and auto closing lock. It was the lack of gas strut on my current D3 version with the tendency for wheel to swing into the tailgate on any slope towards passenger side that put me off slightly (was considering Outback Accessories version). However with that info now I am almost certain to get the new Front Runner version. Regards, David

So this might be a long bow, but I have a Dolium RWC fitted to my D3 and the rear parking sensors are now dysfunctional (well they are still functional but they constantly "see" the rear wheel now. What advice is out there about a fix? I had been told to mask the right hand two sensors but I can't make that work and it does not make sense.
Any experience or fixes out there?
