Would it not be as simple as weighing the front of the car and showing its within the weight specified by LR ? Then LR don't have a leg to stand on.

It's not the same weight though. From what I recall of the conversation with rmp (without doing a search), we agreed that there was a weight difference, but not as much an increase as you would expect, because some weight is removed from the car for fitment.

I had unfortunately thrown out all the superfluous bits when I fitted mine, so couldn't arrive at an exact difference. But it was fairly obvious that a bull-bar fitted D3 would raise more slowly at the front than a standard one.

[Edit - of course, LR themselves sell a winch + mounting kit for the D3/D4, so the argument would be that the car should still be able to function within it's design parameters if you fitted a steel bull-bar]

    Cheers,

    Gordon

With the ARB fitted, neither the grill nor the headlights can be removed without removing the bullbar. While slim hands just might be able to change a headlight globe, there is no way of changing the indicator globes.

If I had my time over, I would buy the LR genuine one - presuming it doesn't have the same problem.

You must have HUGE hands, as even my hands dont have a problem doing the bulbs with an ARB bar...

I can recommend though, if it is a concern, fit LED bulbs in the parker lights before bolting up the bar

I won't go into the finer details, but we had a water leak and they(dealer and LRA) claimed the bullbar was bending the car causing it to leak this was after blaming the rear bar snorkel and windscreen, after much jumping up and down they looked at the car bit by bit, starting at the back, they pulled the car apart, each time sending a report back to LRA they then approve the next part of the car, finally finding an air bubble in the sealant at the front corner of the car, did we get an apology after it was found to be a manufacturing fault, NO we got a nasty letter saying we were on a restricted warranty for highly modified vehicles

It all hinges on how you get on with your dealer, I guess they didn't like us being sick of getting the run around, we have taken it to other dealers and had no issues, but this dealer just wants to be a bully.

    Question

I fitted after market LR copied head light guards on my old D3 which involved removing the headlights with my ARB bar fitted. The trickiest part was just getting the vertical slide catches to line up to refit them.if you go to the show us your discovery blog there are the before and after pics with the guards fitted ( atacama sand 2009 ) page 41

They have to be kidding on the weight argument... just point the dealer to their own winch and tray option integrated into the existing bumper. bloody heavy. I wouldn't say there'd be much difference between that and ARB/ECB/OL etc
    Cheers,

Did that, no response, anyway the car runs out of warranty soon, so will be glad to see the back of them.

Will never ever buy a new Land Rover again and will and have gone out of my way to tell other not too, I don't like being yelled at for something that ended up being a manufacturing fault and the issue was first raised prior to fitting our accessories, but that didn't seem to matter.
