Thread: 255/55/r19 general grabbers AT, anyone tried them.

No, but I have the GG AT on my D3 18's. And I like them overall, they are good on and off road,and I have had no punctures over my two sets (AT2s and now ATs).

My only complaint is that I have a few small cuts on the sidewalls which I never hot with the previous, might just be back luck but also might be a little soft there.

Some others have complained of noise with theirs but I don't have a problem with it, being AT they will have a bit more noise than the HT tyres but in my opinion it isn't intrusive and with the stereo on there is zero.

I've had them for about 25000km on my d3 and I don't like them (noise). I will concede that they are a good tyre from a grip point of view (handle well on road in any conditions) and are good off-road for what I do.

I paid $300 for mine so $400 is exxy - you can get Pirelli atr (which is what I wish I'd bought) for around the $350 mark or less if you shop around.

Thanks for that. What sort of off roading have you been doing with them? I did look at the pirelli ATRs but at $470 and the Coopers at $430, the GG were quoted at $375 come up trumphs. Don't forget these are the rare beast called 19". If the GGs are just as good off road as the Coopers or the Pirellis, I might as well save my money and get the GGs. The OEM Goodyears have disappeared before my eyes and I've heard the others all ware a lot better. Mind you, I do like the look of the Goodyear ATs. Any more thoughts or answers? My off-road is varied but not hardcore. They are a perfectly fine tyre in the conditions I've encountered (dirt gravel mud sand snow rocks) but i am very conservative. No punctures but am missing a few chunks here and there and they have not worn evenly (suspension issues). The noise at 80-100kmh is annoying and they are rough (bad wear). Maybe I am not being entirely fair to them ... But I regret not buying Pirelli atr.

Try your nearest tyrepower as those prices are very high - in a 19" I was quoted 320 for gg, 355 for Pirelli and 375 for cooper earlier this week.

wow! I got those prices from a tyre power here in Adelaide. That's interesting, same company, different franchise, different price. Might have to let my fingers do the walking this time. Thanks for the feedback.

I have the GG AT's on my SDV6SE.

My only criticism is noise I have an annoying vibration noise at 90 - 100 km/h.

Other than that they are great.

I have done over 46,000 km & still have heaps of tread left.

I was quoted $310.00 F&B to replace them recently.

I'll admit I am being very harsh on them ... but I will never forgive the wheel bearing incident (failing bearing could not be diagnosed over the roar of the tyres).

Apart from the noise (to which I am hypersensitive) and as yet unresolved harshness and vibration ... I should admit, in fairness, that they've been good tyres ... that hurt ... a lot ... haha

At $375 you are being ripped off, I paid $295 shop around you can do better.

Mine have done 30,000km and as others have said generally a good tyre but will get noisy as they wear, mine are the 255-55-19.
