Thanks for all your replies. As it turns out the RRS sold before I could get near it. It didn't even last a day on Carsales!!

Like most of you, the D3 will better suit my needs I think. I plan to do a fair bit of off roading and camping.

Hopefully the D3 I see today is it!

Had the same thing, it was best described to me as "the RRS is more precious" the Disco is more useable.
Had a RRS for a month (supercharged) for me it was the space inside that made the D4 I have now more appealing.

RRS can only seat 4 adults comfortably, no 7 seat option and the boot was terrible for going away with the wife and kids. The D4 fits everything and everyone in it, and i'm not as precious about "using" it like I would with the RRS.

    Cheers

I had my 2006 LR3 for 5 years and traded it in on a new 2011 RRS.
Love the look of the RRS but miss the rear space of the LR3 and the split tailgate which makes a great seat.
Both have their pluses and minuses.

I would rather drive an esky than a fridge - at least it has wheels

We don't have LR3s in Australia - D3s only. More bloody Americanisms creeping in. Looks like we have lost the SUV fight but we should insist on calling our vehicles by their correct names - Discovery 3 or D3 not the American Landrover 3 or LR3.

    I haven't conceded the SUV fight yet ... It's a flamin' 4wd not a glorified soccer mum transporter !!

Whilst I can easily call my Patrol a truck there is no way I could call the D4 a truck. It is good that on this forum we never refer to our vehicles as trucks!
