Park car and leave it turned on, pop bonnet, remove the yellow suspension fuse, suspension fault comes up, then let them park it on the aligner. No suspension movement at all....

    Sounds to easy...
Does this work for the D4?
Do you set the suspension normal or off road before popping fuse?
Does the suspension fault warning cause any long term problems or does it clear after popping the fuse back in?

That is for the D4. I would expect the same with a D3.

    Leave as normal ride height.

Fault clears once the fuse is up back in, after the alignment is done.

    Restart and all good.

Or use the IID Tool (or one of the BBS products) to put it into tight tolerance mode.

Right so after a couple of hours at a main dealer, the steering wheel is straight..
I've asked for a print out, but it appears the wheel alignment was way out.... I asked about the tight tolerance mode, but the tech manager says that everyone asks about it, but they never do it... So the question still stands why did the local tyre garage get it so wrong :-(

So many variables. It could be as simple as not attaching the heads to the rims properly. ( quite a common issue now with some of the multi spoked wheels and curved rim edges )
More likely that the vehicle was not settled when they aligned it. The vehicle needs to be driven in 'normal' height mode for a few klms ( I think LR recommend 10...seems excessive ) to settle the suspension before commencing any alignment. I think you are asking for trouble lifting the vehicle from access height as you put it onto the wheel alignment ramps. If you cannot put it into tight tolerance mode, at least open a door or pull the main suspension fuse to stop the suspension from moving. From experimentation with my own vehicle, even with the vehicle in tight tolerance mode, if you haven't settled the suspension properly, ( driven it around the block at least ) the alignment will be out.
It also highlights that if you are using Llams or whatever to vary the suspension height, it does need to be realigned at your chosen drive height.

    HI Mate,

I'm confused .... who never does it (TTM)?, as in LandRover or other wheel alignment places?

My understanding is, if you don't lock the car in TTM or maybe the equivalent, you will never get it right, unless you arse it.

Most tyre and mechanical places I've been to have no idea what TTM is or have any semblance of understanding of the affect EAS has on wheel alignment.

Took mine once after some suspected under body damage to a new BMW place, cause it was local and my nearest LR guy was a retard and was completely uninterested.

These guys (BMW) had the latest and greatest of kit .....

Next LR service a few weeks later .... 6mm out!
