After all that it was a faulty oil temperature sensor.....discovered by the diagnostics detecting its fault. Fairly simple replacement.

This sounds like my problem, I loose power going up hills when towing revs go from over 3K to 1.5K surgeing this just happened going up out of Adelaide on the motorway so not that steep. I just came back from the cape with no probs, beside a wheel bearing, pulled a camper up through Vic high country, but now with a van I just make it up hills. UK site states clean map sensor, where is it? I have now done 250,000Ks MY07 TDV6. any suggestions?

Take the engine cover off and you will find it on top of the engine at the back of the air intake,
Comes off with a tech screw bit. clean out with wd 40 or better still electrical cleaner.

Oil temp sensor was removed, bench tested to confirm fault and replaced.
Diagnosed by MLR reading fault codes.
Still finding my Blackbox difficult.
