Well, after over a year of research - including hours of looking through this site and posting questions where I couldn't find the answers - I have bought a 2006 HSE TDV6. So I guess I am kinda a proper member now!
I love the vehicle, it is so much better than I could have hoped for, so my patience has been well and truly rewarded. It has the full hk sound system (so good), sat nav, aftermarket long range tank and kaymar rear tyre carrier. It is shod with Cooper A3s, which seem pretty hardy - but I think I will look to get some Bridgestone Duelers when they are done (and some 17in rims). But for now I am stoked.
It has done a lot of miles (218) but, like everyone here had suggested, the books were all complete, and the crucial timing belt change had been completed when it was required and was serviced at regular intervals. I am the second owner. The original owner (who might be on here !!) had just bought a new D4, his fifth or sixth Land Rover.
I will post up some pics when I can work out how to do so.
Thanks to everyone here for being so helpful. I look forward to posting more here as an owner now.
James,
No need now for 17in wheels.
Just got rid of my six 17in steel wheels with the Cooper ST at 40k. One shoulder puncture due to lowering pressure in the high country and five chipped too severely to use. They had been to the cape and around the high country including Billy Goat Bluff. The Wranglers did better.
Point is that I got six Bridgestone 26560R18 D697 light truck for my 18 in wheels for $360 each at Kmart tyres balanced and fitted.
Firm ride but much quieter. Track well, fit without rubbing, speedo is accurate and there is more room in the garage.
Now to see how these wear.
Disco's done 180k+ and these may be the last tyres I buy for this car.
Ok, so it has been a while since I posted pics on forums like these but here it is. I say it because I am not sure whether it is a he or a she yet. However my three year old is determined 'he' should be called Sir Axelrod...
