    Disco 3 starter motor issues

Hello all I am hoping I can get some help. I am fairly certain that my starter motor is on the way out or gone. The problem is
When I try to start all I get is a click turn ignition off and back on tick again I do this alot an finally it turns over. I am thinking that it is the solanode that is the culprit. I have check the battery and is reading 12.77 when the starter Motor clicks. And also when it was running there was 13.74 volts going in so i think that is all good.
So I am a little scared that it is going to cost me over 700 to get a new one can they be repaired. And if so how do I access it as I am not sure where in the engin bay it is.
Hope you guys may be able to help

The starter is on the RHS and accessed from underneath. Removal from my 3.0 took a little while due to having to remove some other bits first and the starter had to be juggled around to get it down once unbolted, then moreso when refitting.

    LR sells the solenoid separately.

The problem is probably the solenoid. It seems if battery voltage is near 14 volts, the solenoid will function as it should; closer to 12 volts, you get the clicking.

The contacts within the solenoid which is what burns, are also apparently available as a Denso part.

    hi guys
thanks for the follow up. had to have it flat bed towed to the dealer where i purchased it from after they did there bit, it was what i thought the starter motor was cactus. They had to get a new one, at least it is covered under the dealer warranty. the dealer was really good he dropped another car out to my house so we had wheels until the disco is fixed.
    Should get her back tomorrow.
