Sorry nothing useful to ad than maybe early ownership brings greater use of the go pedal, lighter foot might help.

Get it to a good LandRover mechanic for a good going over. My V8 Disco only uses 15l/100km

Ignore the computer... fill it up again and calculate the Old Fashioned Way. Try doing either 100 or 200 km exactly, - no maths needed.

IF, it's still up there, take it back ASAP. 36litres/100km is a bit savage, even for a Land Rover...

Around 20 litres/100km is what I get out of my 3.9 litre (inefficient, ancient technology etc) v8 Classic.
Six cylnders is a better-balanced size for 4 litres than 8. Your modern engine should should drink less than mine.

The D3 V6 is quite an old engine design & is less efficient than the V8.

3.5 rrc I had was 18-20l/100k's, a 1976 V8 statesman 5.0 used 15-22L (22 on lpg). Prado 3.4 was 15-17 and a 4.0 v6 Prado was13-15 on lpg injection. It would start On petrol and switch over after 1-2 k's when warm enough.
36/100k's is One of 4 : hole, thief , gauge faulty or major problems.

There has also been instances were the tank has collapsed for some reason reducing the volume. As well as doing the manual calculation mentioned above, check the amount of fuel you can fit in the tank.

Collapsed tank will not cause this as the computer calculates the consumption from the injector duration and what gear it is in etc.

Although the V6 started as an old engine it has lots of modern hang on stuff and should be relatively economical , although AFAIR not as economical as a V8.

The main problem with them AFAIK is that the timing chains are at the back, and if you don't change the oil very often, it is an engine out job to fix the stretched chains.
Hmm maybe someone has mistimed the cams.
Most likely will be a detached or dead temperature sensor which tells the ECU the engine is cold and applies the choke/enrichment.
