I've never seen a Toyota SATNAV, but I wondered if it was any better or worse than the LR OEM system.

I guess there is possibly another variable at play here .... how the interface is set up. I imagine Toyota, the system you've seen and the two I researched could actually have a different 'Look and Feel', meaning one may be more user friendly than the other, even with the same platform in the background.

    Dunno .....

The interface was OK, nothing to write home about, but relatively easy to use. Seemed to have the ability to add various media (music, photos, videos etc.).

It was mainly the operation of the thing that was woeful. I used it many times in the 3 weeks I had the D4 and it got more and more frustrating each time I used it.

LOL .... not so good then.

Have you ever tried a Merc, Audi or BMW SATNAV with their stupid 'pseudo mouse' set up? Seriously, give one a try and then you will know the meaning of frustration .... LOL!!!

My wife's Merc is woeful but it's voice command is pretty good once you get the hang of it and interfaces with the sound system, etc .... so pros and cons I guess.

Incidentally, after missing another turn today using the VC on my TomTom, I killed the voice and just looked at the screen .... works much better that way and I realised that the VC just confuses things .... and once on the weekend, was blatantly wrong, even though the graphic display was correct.

    Thanks for the info.

    Cheers,

    Kev.

I only have the basic sound system without the 7 inch touch screen. I cannot figure out how the voice stuff works at all, the owners manual is useless. It only described how to pair a mobile if you had the touch screen.
My wife's $22,000.00 base model Suzuki SX4 has voice commands that are so easy to use, I feel a bit ripped off. There is a button on my steering wheel that is the voice command button that does nothing, not happy Jan!!!
