Whats the best (legal) way to find a spare 19inch rim?

I am asking for advice as to the best place to start looking for a rim. (I've tried the Markets section but I need one rim only as a second spare for my Simmo trip)
It will be on the roof rack and hopefully (touch wood) not used at all. It doesn't need to match the current rims but must be 19inch. I don't want anything flash or new and will probably sell it again after this trip. - Matti

Keep an eye on eBay. There's been a few pop up on there.

Just take the carcase, the chances are you will not require the 2nd spare.
But it is good to carry none the less.

If it was going up on the roof rack then you are saving the extra weight from being up so high.
It is also a great spot inside the tyre to stand a couple of jerry cans upright.

Give chuck(forum name) a PM, he was selling 4 RRS rims for $500, might still have them, buy them and sell them when you get back.

Isn't getting a carcass off and on an alloy rim in the back of beyond a hideous nightmare?

PS OP Good luck on the trip and I'll be keen to learn how you went with the tyres. Getting a set of 18" rims is not a road I want to go down for storage/cost/asthetic reasons.

I was travelling with a seasoned tyre changing pro, he had all the gear required but we didn't have a puncture on any of the 3 vehicles including 6 days true cross country.
Care and concentration was paramount to not stake a sidewall.

Thanks Rich - considered the carcass only option but I also heard the things are a #itch to break the beads on. I wont have any pro with me but I will ask the wife if she wants to stand-in for one.

And yes - taking it easy will be my plan but I know if I don't have a second spare I will need one - If I Do - I wont!?

JamesH - will do! - I'm getting new tyres for the trip but going to 18's isn't on my plan for this one. The trip report will be posted up on my return - yes I know... with lots of photos of the truck!

Be aware of new sand flag requirements in the Simpson too.

Keep an eye on tyre shops near Land Rover Dealer particularly the ones that sell bling wheels.

    I got 4 x 2012 RRS rims complete with 255 55 19 Cooper Zeon LTZ's for $500

Sold the rims for $400.00 as I have a D4 & the RRS rims are too light for a D4 & ended up with 4 tyres for $100.00
    Cheers
