    Got my VIN

    Hello

I got my VIN number from the dealer today with a delivery date of 21 May, best news I've had in ages.

Anyway I ran the VIN through Topix, how good is that, just made me even more excited. Now is there a way I can track the delivery from the factory?

I know with Jeep, it can be tracked from factory to the dealer, is this possible with LR?

Yes it is. Just don't ask me how. I got told the name of the ship and tracked mine that way. Customs ask for two weeks to clear them. Pre delivery seems to take not much time at all. Check your harbour arrivals on 7 May or thereabouts if they can't tell you the ship.

Hopefully someone can give you the path to a more precise method.

    Tiddy,

I just kept on going into the dealership with my vin No and they have the program to give you the delivery up dates etc. Similar to Topix but a LR one the dealer principal can get his hands on.

It depends on what they find damaged once it's off the ship.
Some cars need more 'pre-pre-delivery' time than others.

From a post on here somewhere?
    First one is track & trace;

    https://att.2wglobal.com/gstattweb/o...uickSearchPage

Second one is live ships map

Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions - AIS Marine Traffic

Haven't used them yet, as I'm still waiting for a VIN; so I can't provide any further advice. Hope they work!

    Cheers

    Hi Mungus

Once you have your VIN, you use the last 5 numbers on Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - worldwide ocean transport, inland services, supply chain solutions, terminal services
    click on track & trace..bingo

My car is currently on its way to Panama after 2 stops in the USA, after Panama it goes to Brisbane & mine gets offloaded at Port Kembla on 13th May.

Pretty cool eh, just makin me more excited.

Yesterday I was wandering about in my dealers lot looking at new LR's and Jag's just off the transporter. I noted small stickers on the windscreen with the Wallenius Wilhelmsen name and logo on them. I guess that is no surprise but it was the first time I had noted those stickers - small world it is.

haha yeah we used to sit down near Drummoyne and watch the guys unload those giant car carrying ships.

An old 4x4 with no doors would load up with guys and fly onto the boat, drop everyone off they would all jump in a car each and literally launch them off the boat as would the old 4x4, then after screeching the brand new cars to a stop they would all rush back into it fly back onto the boat and repeat with a top speed on a cold engine unload of a new vehicle.

    Thanks for that.....lol

A comforting thought as I wait for mine on one of those RO RO's, which according to the shippers website should be on the dock @ Port Kembla around 10th May.

Have unloaded a few of them in my time.

Once watched a crewman lower a deck on to a lower deck of Mercedes Benz's, very expensive accident.

Another was a Porsche not stopping because of protective wax on the rotors & rear ending another Porsche causing damage to 5 of them.

The scariest part is when a heavy piece of mobile plant breaks loose at sea - should see the carnage then.
