I can imagine it. A while back I was up on site at Nullagine for 8 weeks on a plant upgrade - the hire vehicle they got me was one of the new V8 70 series wagons.
By a country mile - the worst 4WD I have ever had the displeasure of driving, particularly on rough dirt roads. ;)
I was even swapping it for the workshop's 70 series tray back ute whenever I could - the ute gave a better ride (and you could move the driver's seat back further in the ute - I've got long legs).
Anybody who buys one of these things as a private vehicle has to be some sort of masochist. :o
Thats what we have they are the worst cars alright but i guess ours cop an absolute hiding and that does them not favours but heavy duty clutches and heavy duty suspension in the rear but yes ill agree one of the worst cars I've driven rough as guts and with the ROPS in them the back is a pain to get in and out of!! Can safely say id never get one as a private car either haha.
Although we are changing to the new ford ranger due to having a policy of only 5 star ancap vehicles now and they do not handle it at all but i guess they arnt made for super heavy duty mine site floggings!!
Hi all,
I am in the same boat ... picking between a Prado, LC 200 and a D4.
The Prado is a lot cheaper with the gold discount but my heart also says D4 but the wallet and wife says Prado ....
Any suggestions ...
Mate i was in the same boat about 6 months ago and my partner had her heart set on a 200 Sahara we went to town and tested all things from Prado 200 Jeep Grand Cherokee and VW Toureg all in one day my partner was not interested in the D4 so i made her come to the dealer and after one drive of the D4 she was sold she loved it and being very non technical she noted how much better it drove how much comfier it was and she loved the seating position and the seats she said yep thats it i love it now (still doesn't like the exterior) but i love the look!! Thats my suggestion test drive all 3 in succession with the D4 last and i promise you will have your heart set on a D4 thats how we did it all in a day that way you can easily compare and remember each one i guess. I was set on a Jeep GC quite a bit cheaper than the D4 but I'm so glad i spent the extra money and go the D4 love it!!
Yeah I'll have to agree there I loved the sport but the new L494 I couldn't justify the extra $40k for it, loved it but also the lack of room was what swayed us to the discovery and just how practical and awesome they are all my mates go it's ugly they get in and have a drive and I can't get them out of it haha they love it!!
Yeah my partner is the can't get her out of it I get stuck with the old run about car and she's in the disco haha. But you try all the others and think ill just get a cruiser for reliability or something but so far 3 months and 13000kms never had any issues at all with our disco and I'm so glad I made the choice and took the plunge I call it! But the best thing we did was drive them all in a day back to back to give a comparison and that's what set it in our mind after driving the rest it's hard to drive them weeks apart you forget what they were like.
Thanks all for your comments. Agree with the new RRS (lack of space and too much $$). So I guess D4 it is ... Now its the hard few months to wait for one ...
