    Removing rear tailgate inside carpet

    Hi All,

Need to replace the carpet inside panel on rear tailgate as well as the flap that covers the gap on bottom (paint spill, don't ask!!!!).

Sort of figured out how to remove the panel on the tailgate but the flap won't budge even after removing the bolts that hold it on.

Anyone know what the secret is?

Thanks in advance for any input.

    Cheers
    Mike

There are 3 10mm bolt heads that hold the panel in place. Once these are removed lift the panel upwards & it will then slide off the 3 plastic clips that align it with the holes. The seats must be upright also. You can then see where these clips are.

Thanks for your reply, Ill have another look to see if I can spot the clips. I thought there must be something else besides the bolts as the thing would not come apart.

    Thanks

Please post how you get on. I'm contemplating replacing the carpet on the tailgate and infill flap with rubber or similar. It appears that the carpet is glued to a backing plastic sheet which is attached to the underlying frame by plastic pins which have been heard and melted flat. I use the lower tailgate to stand on with the upper tailgate closed to load the roof so the carpet is very unpractical.
