Ok, hard to explain but I have a definite shunt/ power flutter when cruising at high speed i.e 110. It's when the car is on cruise and you either come up a hill and plateau, then the car like flutters when coming off the power.....it can do the same when is goes on power when cruising... But there is definite shunt and or power drop..and back on again to catch up.... I though this might be the cruise control, however I can manage it by using the throttle my self. It's only evident at say 100kms +. I can't get it to replicate at 60 etc. I am thinking fuel problem?. But it's worrying to say the least as it's a sharp shudder/bump. It's little like the gearbox catching the engine speed some times....like my old holden when Trany was knackered. Any ideas.? Also I have recently been using Chemtech Diesel power -.

 Apologies for spelling..

I have been using chemtech diesel power for about 10 years.....maybe it has started to clean out muck in the fuel lines and filter is getting blocked ?

I have little mechanical knowledge other than real basic stuff.

I have to say that the cruise control is one of the very few things I don't like about my D3. It really doesn't work very well at all if the road is at all hilly, it hunts and surges and overshoots and then drops back.

It actually comes close to being dangerous at times, and you can also annoy other drivers if you move into the left in an overtaking lane going up a hill to let other traffic past and then it suddenly speeds up.

The only solution I find is to turn it off when the terrain gets hilly and only use it on the flat.

*edited to admit I didn't read the original post thoroughly enough. I see you replicated without the cruise control so this is something different.

					Hi guys.
I've had similar experience in both my old D2, and my 2.4 Puma.
The D2, V8 Auto used to have what seems like a very similar problem. Although it only played up on cruise control. Took it to a Landie specialist in Frankston, he adjusted something and all was good thereafter.
Although nowhere near as complex as the Disco's etc, the Puma at present has what started as a very similar problem, although it has become much much worse, to the point where the decline/uptake in power jars heavily on the driveline. When presented to a dealer, they have diognosed a problem with the ECU/temp sensors/comunication, thus starving the motor of fuel at speed My car goes in next week for them to fix. My car goes in next week for them to fix.

Here's hoping your problem is easy and cheap to fix. Has it thrown up any alarms at all, and are you under warranty still?

Off to the dealer - have to find a spot where I can get speed and hill

Have a read up on gearbox oil problems / flush as that too can cause issues.
