    D3 2.7L more power

    Im curious to know if its possiable to push an extra 2-5psi extra boost into these engines or are they at there limits. If so how, will a manual boost controller suffice

    More boost needs more fuel Get it remapped

    Its been remapped and its a marked improvement but just want that little more up near the 180kw be nice. Currently has terrafirma decat pipe, egr blank off k&n filter makes around 165kw. Also looking into the intercooler upgrade

    Well you're walking a slippery slope just to chase a "number"

    Upgraded intercooler will help a little

    Lose the K&N filter or you will dust your engine and ruin it... K&Ns belong on race tracks not 4wdrives.. You will pay the price!

    15kw is a big jump considering you're already quoting well above design.

    It will never be a SDV6 in output, relax, enjoy... It will still out haul most other 4wdrives..

    You say you want 180kw so you want a higher top speed then - after all it is power that determines top speed for any given vehicle.

    Most people want better pulling and overtaking and for this you need torque - yes torque and power are directly related but torque is what most really want.

    To get more torque at the midrange you may actually sacrifice power at the top end.

    My 2.7 is mapped and I could have gone with a profile that increased my power but that would have at it all at a speed of around 180-200kph and off the racetrack is not much use. So I went for a map that substantially increased torque at around 100kph to 120kph but does not do all that much to power at the top end.

    In a drag race my map increases my 0-100kph time by about 3 secs but probably does nothing at the top end and I have not tried it.

    So back to you original target of 180kw - is meaningless for everyday driving - you need to work put what sort of torque improvement you want at what rev range/speed. I suspect if you change you map to a torque focussed map you may get the seat of the pants improvements you want.

    I have a BAS map - tell the guy what you want and he will do it.

    Sorry garycol was meaning power/torque. I realise torque is what i need.

    So is it possiable to add a couple of psi to acheive this goal or has anyone done this...

    Not phased about in my seat feel as its not a race car its 4wd just want the most out of it

    Again - please listen to what you are being told...

    The D3 turbo is ECU controlled.

    If you want to even attempt to get more you'll need to remap the ECU to control everything.

    Boost is a product of exhaust gas, exhaust gas is a product of burning fuel. More boost needs more fuel...

    Tuning experts like BAS know what's the limit for each engine type and they work to a safe zone within this limit.

    Chasing 2-3 pounds is likely to gain very next to nothing - however, if there is anything to be gained above what you've got then Pete at BAS will know if it can be done...

    You'll also likely spend your life staring at an EGT gauge to prevent your engine melting!
