    Tor,

I had mine weighed in 2012 before we tried to load it up for a trip to Cape York using a roof top tend for accommodation. My car, as is with empty long range tank and about 40l in the main tank, weighed in at 2740kg with no one in the car and a single spare on the Kaymar bar. This severely limited how much we could carry with three adults in the car for the trip.

To keep weight down I removed all of the rear seats (4) except the one that my daughter needed to sit in. We were still over GVM slightly (unless I kept the LR tank empty), even though we packed very lightly such that the Landcruiser owners we were travelling with couldn't believe how little stuff we had and how well it all fitted in the D4.

Reducing weight makes a massive difference.

I recently did 600k's twice recently(two different trips) empty, just me and the dog, fuel economy was an amazing 9.2l/100,calculated myself. Also did a lot of overtaking both times,i wasn't driving for economy.

Loaded on a trip and driving sensibly i am flat out getting less than 10L/100,it is usually around 10.5 to 11.

Mine was around 2740kg on the scales(at the local dump) just with driver, has ARB bar and cargo barrier, and rhino HD racks, and traxide dual battery.

What the? As I'm looking at these 4.4 ltr 8 speed combos, I would hope that the figures aren't that far out to the advertised 9.4 l/100k???

As for the thread topic - My Discrover sport RRS 2.7 long term average on the trip computer was 10.2, with 70 / 30 city / country, driven pretty hard with no regard to economy whatsoever, just safety cameras and mr plod.
