    Vehicle Fit Out Recommendation

    Hi Everyone,

I am looking to setup my LR4. I wish to fit a winch, Snorkel, Bashplate, LED Driv Light Bars and roof rack at this stage. I have found a pic of a white LR from Europe that appeals to how i would like to set mine up.

Winch - i like the way the winch is neatly located behind the standard bar, how do you do this? what brand would fit? who sells it in Aus?

Bash plate - im guessing lots of options here, but again would love to here.

Roof Rack - i want a rack that is low profile and preferably light weight so it can be removed. I am looking to mount an 950mm LED lamp that i already have to it.

Snorkel - I understand that the genuine item is not waterproof. which water proof would you recommend and any suggestions on a good fitter in Melbourne?

LED Driv Light Bar - I have a 900mm which i am looking to mount on the roof and 570mm which i am going to mount behind the grill. this means cutting the grill. should i buy a replacement and cut it and hang on to the OEM (I'm guessing they are expensive to replace?)

Open to all ideas and suggestions and appreciate your time

    Cheers George

Hi George, great looking vehicle particularly like how he has colour coded the rear windows, i'll try and answer some of your windows

Winch - i dont think it can be done here in Australia

Bash Plates-try these guys, made here in Australia and is also a vendor on the site Green Oval Experience Land Rover training, Range Rover modifcation

Roof Rack - cant help sorry but it sounds like to me roof rails eg Thule etc would be better for you

Snorkel - for quality and reassurance go Safari

LED driving light - i don't see the point of having 2 grills, if you ever wanted to replace it you could buy one then, also ebay have options. By the way if you went for a bullbar it would alleviate this problem and seeing you are from Diamond Creek my concern with roos would already be high!

    good luck

    Cheers
    Julian

You cannot buy accessories for the LR4 is Australia as the LR4 is an Amercian model - you should be able to buy lots of stuff for the Aussie D4 model though.

    Re the Hidden Winch-
Jonesy did one on his D3.
I don't think he would bother doing it again.
Just get a ARB bullbar and a winch if you are that way inclined.

Here is a link to one being fitted to a D4

FYI the rack in the picture is a modified expedition rack. I have one on mine and am happy with it. Has wind noise but.............

There are many other options and a number of long threads, including one on the curreny first page (not sure how to attach a link but a search will find them,) with photos that will probably give you everything you need to know.

Don't know who to refer you to, but I believe there is a landrover option for this, and I have seen one done in Australia, my mechanic in Sydney has done it on his D4.

Bash plate - im guessing lots of options here, but again would love to here.

Gordon from Green Oval Experience who is a poster and vendor here can help you with those.

Roof Rack - i want a rack that is low profile and preferably light weight so it can be removed. I am looking to mount an 950mm LED lamp that i already have to it.

I and quite a few others have the rhino platform with short legs which sits low and has very little noise and lots of options for attachments, side and front rails, etc and is pretty light.

Snorkel - I understand that the genuine item is not waterproof. which water proof would you recommend and any suggestions on a good fitter in Melbourne?

Safari makes the only one worth having and lots of places can fit them, your local ARB can do it.

LED Driv Light Bar - I have a 900mm which i am looking to mount on the roof and 570mm which i am going to mount behind the grill. this means cutting the grill. should i buy a replacement and cut it and hang on to the OEM (I'm guessing they are expensive to replace?)

Up to you, but be careful about obstructing too much airflow through here. Also some debate which I have lost track of about the legality of using light bars on road in some states, you should check. May be better off with a winch bar and a set of Spotties. You can buy replacement grills on eBay.

thanks everyone for your thoughts, i will keep looking as roof racks can be as much a hinderance as help. as for fitting a bulbar i was trying to avoid it if possible and i have seen the OEM winch but it protrudes too far.

here is a link to someone who has worked it all out D44 Discovery 4 Discreet Winch Mount Kit

    cheers George
