Removing the side vents on a D4?

    Hey guys,

I'm trying to install some after market side vents on my disco 4, but for the life of me I can't get the old ones off!?

There's a few D3 videos on youtube showing you need to press down hard on the base and yank like crazy, but the D4 clips look slightly different and i'm pretty close to snapping something i'm sure.

Does anyone have the trick to this?

    Appreciate any help!

I used a couple of zip ties and a lot of pull when I installed the RAI.
    It's pretty tight.

    Regards

I used a long thin screw driver to pop the clips from inside the bonnet next to the bonnet hinges. Use a light to seethrough the gap to the clips, they then pop out once levered a little. I have replaced mine with the black edition vents including grill

On the D3 you stand with your back to the vent, grab the centre bar and pull up hard and pull out.
Side lights are even easier, slide forward and then pull out.

Hey gribbsmy13 where did you purchase the black edition grill and vents from? Were they expensive? Cheers.

Yeah I saw the D3 method on youtube so gave that a shot, but I think the clips are different on the D4 because it's not moving at all.

I have one of each in the shed and yes the clips are different on the D4. The 3 has clips on the bottom and tabs on the top where the 4 has the same clips top and bottom. On the D3 it was easy, but I couldn't get the D3 method to work on the D4. I can't remember what I did on the 4, I think I slid a small screw driver down between the vent and the panel to push the clips down. Whatever it was, it was a bitch.

    Cheers,
    Jon

I used Rich's method, lifting as well as pulling out at the bottom. No breakages.

    Phew OK. Finally got them

    For anyone reading this later:

Long screwdriver and push down the two tabs inside from above. This gives you a bit of play to work with. Then on the outside, push the tabs down from above hard with the screwdriver while pulling out, the front tab will come easy, the back tabs take some work, and serious pulling, to finally free it. It will just pop out then.

    Cheers all!
