    D3 message centre info

Hello all you fellow D3 owners, i recently upgraded my lovely D2 to a 2005 D3 V8, now this car is confusing, its go leather, but no model badge on the tailgate just V8 hmm ok I can live with that but they message centre is part mpg and park Klms I follow the manual instructions to change such things but no go, its as if my version of message centre is so old it doesn't respond. I have no sat nag screen in the console also.
The car is cool, but the transmission cost 1K to get serviced " really".
The motor is like desert storm so much power compared to my old D2.
So Guys any body got a similar D3 to mine let me know so I can compare notes.
    Catch ya Barnesy

It will be an SE or an HSE, HSE has electric seats with arm rests, higher spec stereo and rear aircon standard.
SE could come with leather and rear aircon. Sat Nav was an option for both.

Message centre could just be settings, do you have a manual? If so read it, if not try and download one.

Topix will tell you what model you have and should also provide a manual.

Barnsey - do you have steering wheel radio controls - the reason I ask is that if you do changing the settings in the message centre is straight forward - select settings via the button on the end indicator stalk and then using the radio up and down and side to side buttons you can scroll through the menu and change settings.

I am not familiar with the more basic settings where there are no steering wheel radio controls but I do know that people with this setup do have problems entering and using the message center.

    Barnesy,
Do you have Captains chairs, Little arm rests that fold down from the main chair to the inside or above centre console? If you do it is an HSE, If no Captains chairs then an SE.

You may need to have the vehicle connected to a diagnostic machine as from memory you can't change language in the D3 message centre unless you have Nav.

Yes servicing the Auto is not cheap......

Yours sounds like the spec of mine. I've got a 2005 V8 SE, no SE badge on the back though, just says V8.

I've got cloth seats with sat nav but it does have the full message centre. All of my numbers are metric though, so I think you need it hooked up to something to reset it.

It had the base stereo in but but I've put my Alpine unit in it's place - a big improvement on sound and not yet touched the door speakers.

I've not got around to servicing my autobox yet, it's got 106,000 Km's on it though so will need doing this year.

Thanks guys for the info, and "marmoset" mate we have the same D3 that's great now I can ask you some questions if needs be. Mine has 196000 on the clock and obviously is showing some minor signs of use but still a great Landrover. I do have the volume controls
On the steering wheel but no amount of double pressing of the blinker stork well get me to the setting menu. I think I will get an OBD 2 reader off eBay so I can mess with its brain.
Also my reverse parking sensor doesn't work just has a flashing light in the button, I have put my ears to the sensor in the bumper and I can hear a clicking so I assume they are ok.

Hey Barnesy, my D3 has some of the info in the message centre as metric and some as imperial. I don't have the steering wheel volume controls, but even my mechanic said he couldn't access the settings and reset them with his fancy reader... Don't know what's going on there. Might need to visit the dealership but I don't fancy paying for the reset so I'm putting up with miles to empty and liters per 100km of fuel used for now. Good luck with yours tho.. Might have more luck

Barnsey, you definately have volume buttons on the right hand side of your steering wheel and below them you have track fwd/back buttons ? If so, do they work properly on the radio ? If the do, then you just need to do what Garry said - press 'i' until you get to settings, then press track fwd/back to enter the settings menu. No idea how you'd do it (or if you can) without these buttons.
