Mine does the same thing, on all of the above, however when on auto and it starts raining I have to initiate them, eg manually then back to auto, then they start working. Also they will go fast when not required and or not work when the screen is covered in rain, i try to leave it for as long as I can cope not seeing, they then come on sometimes, sometimes not.......
My wife's Honda is permanently set on auto, they work flawlessly in all conditions never need to be adjusted or touched.
I think the LR sensors are avg, or have an issue as by far they are the worst sensor wipers I have ever experienced in any of my cars. Probably the only gripe I have with the car.
Is there a fault?
Leave mine in off all the time, sick of bugs smeared across the screen.
And when it rains, never use the auto setting.
Same as the auto off high beam, don't think people appreciate being blinded, particularly trucks,as you come over a hill,(the truck driver)coming towards you is well and truly blinded by the time the D4 picks up the headlights, and switches to low beam.:(
Mungus - Did u find an MY14 handbook for download, or the widely available MY12 version (which of course is mostly the same) thanks to our google friends?

Topix has one. Hoping you would get one with the car - surely? It seems to be the MY14 as it has Wade sensing etc... amongst it, although it does not specifically say it is MY14.
I'll PM you!
I'll have to agree mate I've had a few cars one being a VE Holden caprice and a Lexus rx350 and both of them worked perfectly with none of the issues that the land rover ones have they both were great.
But yeah the LR ones are hopeless and I'll agree probably one of the only gripes.
On the other hand mine works wonderfully. It does go off when a bug hits but what it's supposed to do when there is bug guts all over the sensor or some spray from council retic catches it? I I've how I never touch the light or wiper switch. Perhaps I'm lucky to drive through places with few bugs.
No issues with my D3 auto wipers but I get annoyed when I get out of the Wife's Berlina and forget the D3 wiper stalk is on that side rather than the indicator.
I hate that dry wipe when I flick the wiper stalk thinking it's the turn indcator.
I think most people have the same problem haha my wife drives the D4 and i get an old Yaris for a work rocket and you've gotta seriously think about it nothing worse your going to wash the windscreen and then you high beam someone going to work haha!!! Thank god I'm getting her a new Golf and then we will have both cars European should make it easier!
Glad to see it's not me imagining.
This is a clearly a stuff up, my RRS auto wipers were flawless. They've obviously tried to do something clever and stuffed up a good system. Probably a new fan-dangled sensor that can't be replaced and we're stuck with it.
