    Auto Wipers on randomly

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced "ghost rain" in a D4, when your wipers go on without any visible percipitation

My wipers, in auto mode, occasionaly seem to just test the wiping of a perfectly dry windscreen.

Any ideas where/how this can be reset ?

Yeah mine did this a couple of times when I first got it. But very rare so sorry I can't answer the question on resetting.

Bugs a small bug hit right on the sensor area does it...

If I know it's not going to rain - mine go in OFF so that I don't drag big guts or abrasive dust across the glass...

Yep mine do the same, I think it could be dust something else setting them off.

What annoys me is the wipers come on before the water does, when you clean the windscreen

I get it on both of my cars but more so on the Disco. It's rare though. I have the sensitivity turned to min and it does help to improve it.

Actually, I never knew the "bug"... I'm talking about a Bug that had its bum go through its head as it hit the glass where the sensor is

First wipe sweep on startup has only happened to me when there has been settling of dust onto the glass.

My auto wipers do it all the time - bugs, dust, insect wee whatever - the wiping on a dry screen has caused scrape marks on my my windscreen before it got cracked.

With my new windscreen I do not have auto on and only move it there when there is rain - hopefully this will minimise scratches cause by dry wipes.

Just been reading up on this in the operators handbook in preparation for the arrival. As I have read, I cannot reproduce or translate without JLR permission, so I'll give you my understanding (not translation) of the operation and I'll call it knowledgeable theoretical experience.
For most vehicles the Rain Sensor is fitted on the inside of the windscreen behind the rear view mirror. The sensitivity is adjusted by the collar when you have the lever pushed forward in the first position (rain sensing on) The further clockwise the collar the more sensitive. Dry, sunny and dusty conditions can set it off and it is probably better to leave it off, if this is the norm. Apparently the Dry Wipe? can be turned on or off by your dealer.
    Cheers,
    Mungus

PS Don't forget to turn auto off if you go through a car wash.
