edit: mine is a Din80 (I recall that the 85 and 90 were too wide), according to the receipt it cost $255 in December 2011. Second battery is a D34. Not sure if relevant to batteries, but my car is a V8, not a Diesel.

Use 2 D34's as my AUX batteries.
First one of them had problems at about 5 years so replaced them both.
Use genuine for starter, do not think that the Optima have enough reserve capacity for starter.

Not sure if this is any help, but I had a single Optima in my previous Td5 Defender.
Recently bought a Defender Puma and I transferred the battery to it as the main starter battery, because I liked it so much. (Not the easiest of tasks as the Puma has a really stupid battery terminal setup!).

Anyway, the bottom line is that it's performed faultlessly in both vehicles, including some pretty heavy duty winching duties, pulling out trees!

Just replaced a 3yr old Century main battery with a Cobra (SMF 58515 DIN88). Had two random limp home modes (bing bong, HDC fault, suspension to access height, no power...) on the freeway and diagnostics showed some low voltage alarms. All good since then.

Second battery is an 18 mth old Optima Yellow Top D34. It replaced a Varta which failed at 4 years.

    Traxide system joins them up.
