Thread: Beeping alarm while being put on flatbed

Most likely it was the reversing sensors picking up the ground as the back wheels made it on to the tray. I have the same happening reversing out of the garage and about to go up our mildly steep driveway.

I would guess that in your case the beeping would have started just before the back wheels made it onto the tray and steadily slowed in the rate of beeping as you were winched up the tray (moved further from the road).

As Spock would say that sounds logical , here I am describing the alarm and didn't put it together that It could be the reverse proximity alarm as you say , there,s that many alarms that beep at you on these cars it gets confusing at times , worse than being nagged at.

Never heard mine do it, so am wondering why.

That's a good point , I was starting to think it might be some sort of incline alarm with it being in neutral . anyway all went quit when the winch stopped before I could look at anything.

If you've had the car in reverse the sensors activate and remain active regardless of what gear you're in (except park) until the car exceeds a certain speed.

I experienced this when exiting a parking space only to join slow traffic and having the car behind me creep up causing the rear sensors to go off. once the speed of the traffic exceeded the threshold (not sure what it is - might be 8kph as for the door locks), the sensors deactivated meaning the car behind was no longer detected next time it got too close.

Err - not on mine. Only when the car is actually in reverse.

Might be a D4 thing rather than RRS.

Easy to test - select reverse, then select drive, move forward slowly (5kph) and get someone to walk behind the car. do the sensors still sound?

I do have front sensors so that may be a factor.

I've noticed the alarm go off if I reverse out of my drive and have forgotten to take it out of access height. It doesn't happen in normal height mode. As far as cars behind triggering it is concerned, I'm fairly sure I've been at traffic lights and a car behind has got up close and personal and the proximity alarm has gone off.
