Wheel alignment height

Richard,

Mine still stays in normal height, but when you hop out and turn off, the suspension will still move around.

Ttr stops this from occurring.....or removal of fuse.

Thanks for that I will give it a whirl I've had so much trouble with alignments and only done 17000kms! Once the fuse goes back in all the faults clear I'm guessing?

Thanks heaps so basically i take it to get a wheel alignment drive it on the machine in standard height leave it running and pop the bonnet remove the fuse shut it down, do the wheel alignment put the fuse back in and start it back up and all should be good and the alignment should be perfect?

I shared this pain...until a friendly bloke at LR service centre told me about geometry mode setting needs to be set in neutral (something about geometry mode anyway).

The key point is that only LR service has the correct tool/programming to do this, so he told me any other wheel aligner or method is a waste of time - which I'd worked out by then but wasn't sure if it was just the dumb nuts doing the job.

Anyway, the LR service centres have a wheel aligner and the correct program, it was about $80 and I did / you can ask for a discount when you get it done with a service or other job, and the key benefit is that it's done right first time as they are TOTALLY aware of the car as OPPOSED to bobby Jayne type franchises who rarely see a car with this sort of suspension.

In summary, I only get it done by the LR service centre, because I've tried the other mobs.

Thats odd because i purchased my car in Townsville and when i picked it up the wheel was off centre when i drove out of the dealer dropped a uturn and drove straight into the workshop and whinged and said it needs a wheel alignment and they said wait here we have to take it to Jax quikfit because the didn't have an aligner, hmm and Mackay dealer doesn't aswell.

Sorry Nat,

I thought about the whatif scenario where there is no dealer within Cooee, but Adelaide being such a small country town and about 30mins to get most places (well before 'safety' cameras) the majority could get to the service centre easily enough, but I was wrong :(

As for the service centre not having the ability to do a wheel alignment :eek: again I miscalculated on that scenario. I don't know what to say, except that it's pretty friggin disappointing. What other key items haven't they got...

The response I got from the guy in service was that he was 'frustrated' that RRS owners take their cars to wheel centres for alignments then whinge that the cars chew out tyres...so I assumed from that, it was a straightforward LR thing to do and that they all had the ability. That was the 'vibe' of his remarks anyway.

So it looks like the fuse method is your only option :D

Again I apologise for assuming all service centres have the basic items, and yes I do consider this a basic item as they often remove and replace suspension components I.e. Those DODGY rubber bushes...

Don't be in the vehicle when the fuse is removed and wait 5-10 seconds after getting out to allow the suspension to re-level after your weight has been removed.

Thats alright no worries i would have assumed Townsville would have one but obviously not. My nearest dealer is Mackay 2.5 hours away Townsville 6 hours and Cairns is 10 Hours away haha so it looks like i might have to make do with the fuse method!! Thanks for your help much appreciated!!
