I do know of a v6 D3 that used to go into limp mode when starting. When you started it it'd run fine if you removed the error codes via diagnostic. It turned out to be a short in the starter that was interfeering with the electrics. I wonder are the 2 interconnected? Have you had it on the diagnostics?

) Although normally, when they stick - they're well-and-truly stuck until you whack them! I'm wondering if there is a relay to run the solenoid which is getting stuck? That would explain why it becomes unstuck after you turn it back to off.
