285 is probably too wide on OEM rims - will only just miss the front upper control arms by a whisker.

Hi everyone, I'm after advice on which tyres I can fit to my RRS I have the 20' alloys and would like to fit a more off road tyre. I have narrowed it down to the Cooper Ltz or the Nitto Grappler but would like to know what size will fit on my Stormer wheels, I have seen 275/45/20, 275/55/20 or 285/50/20 any advice would be greatly appreciated

Thanks Gordon I will stick with the 275 and from reading previous post I think I will go with the coopers they seem to be the most popular choice.

Nitto and Kumho do AT tyres in 265 50 20. Which will give you more sidewall over the 275 45 20 of the LTZ. I think if you go to 275 55 20 you will have issues with clearance.

Gordon is right. I have 285/50/r20 ltz and it is close but I have no rubbing and I also think you do not want anything less that a 50 profile.
Thanks for the advice, I will take a look at the Nitto and Kumho AT tyres. I do like those cooper tyres they look good. I do think I will need at least a 50 profile so the 265's might be a good idea.
Hi Vs2,
I'm looking to do a similar thing with my 20" rims. Would love a set of 18's but don't have the space to store them. How do you find the cooper LTZ as an everyday tire? Much more noise over the HT style of tyre?
Also given how tight the fit is would you stick with the 285 in future or look at something a bit smaller?
Thanks heaps,
Andrew

Only done about 4k on them and no off road as yet. So far so good and if there is any difference in road noise it must be minimal as I cannot tell the difference from the Pirellis. IMO they look correct for the D4 being the type of vehicle it is. I don't see any difference in MPG but I do run 40psi all round. Also there is more rim protection with the wider tyre on the standard width rim. I would not change back to a smaller tyre unless I was doing serious off roading (possibility of slight rubbing of AC pipes in rear) Maybe Gordon could elaborate.
