Hi.

There have been previous posts about this sort of thing and from what I recall, the system will shutdown after 10 minutes? to conserve the battery as you're not simply turning on the radio but the whole system - maybe it was a D4 thing only. IIRC the best solution apart from running the engine was to take a portable radio with you.

Doesn't the vehicle let you run the radio for a certain period without the ignition on??

As the D3 is key operated, does it have an accessory position??

In my RRS - D3 equivalent - with key out of the ignition the radio is off, key in the ignition but off the radio goes for about 10 minutes then turns off, with the ignition turned to accessory the radio stays on.

It should be the same for a D3.

Another reason I wish the D4 had a key

Hi Martin, did search through the forum but cud not get any info so started this thread. My bad if I had missed previous threads.

Did see that the D3 has the accessory position and the radio runs on it. Will test it to see if it stands for the entire 3 hour movie. If not, there is always RACQ to call for help.

With the D4 you just turn the radio on by pressing the radio switch. The rest of the system stays off so no need for the key! The D3 looks a bit more conventional.

Thanks Bob. I didn't pick that up from the previous threads that I had seen a while ago, hence the advice about a portable radio. I must admit I thought it was a backward step not to have an accessory position so to speak in the D4. I'll give it a try. I certainly would prefer to have the HK 11 speaker sound to listen to a movie rather than a portable that's for sure

No problem about previous threads - I thought it may have helped that's all that's why I mentioned it. I've searched for threads too without success. You'll only get a hit if you've used the same words/phrase in a thread. Computers aren't as smart as us as they must have exact matches whereas we can see something not quite exactly the same and make a connection.
