    D4 3.0 motor options.

    Hi Guys.
I need to sort out in my mind the 3.0 motors in the D4.
    Am I correct,the early D4 3.0L is called a TDV6.The later ones TDV6 is the lower output,the SDV6 is the higher output.
I ask as some internet adds list vehicles that dont sound correct.
What are the power/nm of the 4 motors??? ie early 3.0,early 2.7 plus the latter 2.
Other question, the 2.7 in the early models, how can you tell when looking at pics in an add,no TD badge????
    Cheers

Hmm that's interesting never thought of that before I think on the 2.7 they just had discovery nothing else on the back as they were the base model and the 3.0 said 3.0 TDV6 and then they did an update and just changed it to TDV6 when they cut the 2.7 and they changed the 3.0 to the SDV6. And now on the new models they have TDV6 for the low tune and SDV6 for the high tune, and I think the my14 is under the door mirror there.

That's pretty confusing but think it makes sense. As for power and that think the 3.0 in low tune is 155kw and 520nm and the high tune is 183kw and 600nm I think the 2.7 was 140kw and 440nm.

I could be wrong if someone wants to correct it.

    G'day Andy my understanding...

    2009 and 2010

    Low Powered: TDV6(2.7) 140KW 440 Nm

    High Powered: TDV6(3.0) 180KW 600 Nm

    2011 and 2012

    Low Powered: TDV6(2.7) 140KW 440 Nm

    High Powered: SDV6(3.0) 180KW 600 Nm

    2013 and 2014

    Low Powered: TDV6(3.0) 155KW 520 Nm

    High Powered: SDV6(3.0) 183KW 600 Nm

Others more knowledgeable may correct this.....

Was chatting with my boy on monday, tells me his mates dad has a D4 with a Supercharged Diesel(3.0SD).
Told him NAH MATE,its twin turbo, tells me it goes hard, better than my modded D2 by a long shot.I wonder if dad knows his boy is showing his mates how good the D4 goes.
He told me to buy one

Mate, Even thought my Chipped TD5 used to go pretty hard..... I never in my wildest dreams expected the poke the SDV6 delivers with ease....

Not sure if you have driven one yet...... but once you do, the decision gets a lot easier..

Your dead spot on there ther engine just sucks you in it's so smooth and creamy and just free willing to rev it just does everything so easily and loves it!! On the highway over taking just get in the torque curve and it just goes so well!!

On another note I'm thinking the SD stands for Sequential Diesel as in twin sequential turbos I could be wrong but that's what I had a guess at.

Our MY14 TDV6 is also a sequential diesel too, so not really sure what the SD stands for, but I'm sure LR have a reason for it.

Ahh yes that's true my apologies all the 3.0 engines are sequential turbo Duhhhh haha. But your quite right there is surely a reason behind it. Maybe they just carried it over with the change from 2.7 to 3.0 and just thought well the TD is always the low tune and the SD is always the higher tune. Who knows haha

This is all very complicated Andy

They have an engine people like me can understand:

    V8 - 5.0 - 276kw, 510nm

No timing belts, turbos or other witchcraft !
