Any plug in box is a signal modifier...
Hi all, was talking to a guy today who has one of these modules in his 2.7 D4.
Land Rover Discovery TDV6 Diesel Chip Tuning by ChipMyDiesel - Performance, Power & Economy
Their explanatory PDF [ame]http://www.chipmydiesel.com/pdf/tech.pdf[/ame]
Has anyone got any experience with them? Are they just a crappy signal modifier that tricks the ECU? Any inherent dangers etc?
He seems happy, had it for about 3 months. Reasonably inexpensive too.

Don't mean to be a smart a#*se but I thought the main difference between petrol and diesel was the fuel type.![]()
A petrol to air mix of 1:1 is not right either!
Will - you're much better off getting a BAS or Bluefin remap interface. BAS is more expensive - especially when Superchips have a 25% off sale (usually at the end of the year, like when I got mine). The usual price at Australian distributor is less than $700 for Bluefin, and a bit more for BAS.
For cars out of warranty, it is not such a big deal to get the interface - as it is less likely that your factory map will get updated and overwritten by dealers.
Unless you're towing, I don't see the point personally.
Baz.
Cheers Baz.

Every thing is a compromise, I am happy to stick with he the LR engineers compromise.
Why risk increasing combustion temperatures etc and resultant lower engine life for a bit of extra power?

Barry
