Would side steps stop those who open their door on you

I was parked today in a fairly close fitting when a young guy got into passenger side of his car. No care in the world and knocked my new D4 door. I got out but no damage that I could see. The guy did not even say sorry.

So I was wondering if side steps or rock sliders or something would stop this from happening.

The fact the car lowers it self to their hight I am hoping it will.

I know this is over kill but I get ****ed off at the damage you get done by other people in car parks. I can do enough myself .

The steps would useful any way.

I have not looked into it but does anyone know how much they would cost?

I hate that. I always look for a park that's out of the way, or prefer to park next to a car that "looks" well kept. If I can't find one like that, I'll use Llams +50 in off-road hight.

Some rock sliders that stick out far enough will definitely protect you from careless knobs, as will side steps.

Beware that not all side steps are created equal and can create problems if they get bent while off roading.

Yes they will most of the time, except with other 4wds where those doors are above your step height.

Will also stop cow **** splattering up the side of the car when goin through paddocks, or mud if off road but not in a cow paddock

I hate that car park damage too.....had someone smash into the rear qtr of the old RRS only a month after I had it, popped out (plastic bumper), but they scratched of most of my black paint and left their white paint over the rest. No note, no responsibility... Where's the love gone these days?

Yes they help, and the side rub strips do as well. We also leave the vehicle at full height in shopping centre carparks. It reduces the risk, but there are always dickheads who have no care for others property.

I would jump straight out and "knock a dent" into the dickhead!

Many thanks for the answers. Can anyone recommend some. I have seen a few on the net but as I am a bit on the heavy side (nice way of saying fat) I would like to get ones that are strong, ideally with edges to scratch thier doors if they do it again 😄

Bought & fitted mine for the same reason - yes they are handy for climbing in & out (& for my mum), stop the cow **** splatter (but keeps it there so the smell makes you look real tough), and for those car park d##k heads.

Car park & trolley scratches just infuriate me as it is just low life bogan laziness

Got ours from ebay, some stuffing around to fit but that is more a reflection on my lack of mechanical ability. They seem strong enough, the outriggers that hold the boards bolt directly in. My wife & I have stood on them together with no adverse effects. They are no rock slider 4WD type protection (a decent ding or rock crunch will bend them) but they serve their purpose.

I am very happy with my sliders from GOE.

A few years ago I came back to my vehicle in a car park with a sloped deck. The person next to me was resting their loaded trolley against my car while she loaded hers! To make it worse her underemployed teen son was standing around with thumb-in-bum-and-mind-in-neutral.

I say I was flabbergasted was a understatement. Thankfully no-one ended up in hospital.

I have Brads sliders and the door protector strip on mine and normally park away from the rest in large car parks. The times I do have to be close I simply go to full offroad height after my wife gets out so they will damage only their own doors, not mine.
Dont get me started on the lack of manners or consideration for other people shown these days, yet give the same back and they are the aggrieved party!!!
