The V8 D4 may be the same as the D3??

Expedition Portal who owned the D4 in the TGUSA episode has a write up on their car and talk about the ARB lockers here

The response from Scott Brady to a question about the lockers is as follows:

"Unfortunately, the experience is only half complete, as only the front locker has been installed. The rear was incompatible with 2010 and later LR4s, due to a bearing size change. I know that ARB is working on it, and I hope to have an update soon."

It would appear that although the car had two locker switches only the front locker was working.
The LR4 V8 available in the US does not come standard with the e-diff and it is only available in the HD package. Unlike the Australian V8 which is standard with an e-diff.

Well that makes everything that car did in the video even more impressive.

I am in the same situation as the OP and would like any updates to this issue.

I am also interested in how the TCS handles locked diffs. My guess is that as the wheels won't be independently spinning the TCS won't try and brake wheels etc so I would guess that they would be fine. Am I correct?

Is the there a future ARB locker for a D4 rear?

Sorry to necro this thread... has anyone worked out what the actual diff housing difference is? Or looked at putting a D3 diff housing with an ARB locker into a D4?

Or any LSD or locker to either front or rear for that matter... esp regarding D3/RRS.

The rear e-diff can be retro-fitted although its not quite plug and play, with the need to makeup the harness between the control unit and the e-diff the messiest hurdle once an e-diff with the correct ratio has been found. Connecting the control unit to the HS can-bus at a convenient spot and supplying permanent and ignition power then updating the CCF with an appropriate diagnostic tool is not particularly arduous.
