Introducing "LANCE"

I fitted a load resistor to the trailer plug wiring yesterday. Once backing the boat trailer up the driveway with the rear sensors blaring at me was incentive enough to solve the issue. I used a Narva Load Resistor and intercepted the indicator wiring at the plug behind the cover on the LHS of the load area.

It is just wired through a switch and then to earth. I made a simple steel bracket which attached to one of the bolts as shown. Seems to work OK and solves the trailer LED issue.

I have also made some rubber floor mats. My D4 came with OEM rubber floor mats but they don't cover enough of the floor area for me. I use my D4 for work and am onsite every other day, and then often at the beach on weekends so get a lot of sand inside. These mats can be simply swept out when required. They need a bit more work to sit better but will protect the carpet in the mean time. One thing I noticed is that the D4 floors are much more contoured than the D2 which are basically flat, especially in front of the second row seats. Getting a mat to sit flat across that area is a nightmare!

Get rid of those poofy side steps.............there's a button for that :wasntme:

I hear you mate, it came with them on it. I'm undecided as to whether they will stay on in the long term. For now they are there to protect the sides until I can sort some mud flaps.

Yep I understand that. The resistor is mounted of a 2mm thick steel bracket to dissipate heat and there is no wiring in contact with the resistor or bracket. The resistor is also only in the indicator circuit, which is only active for short periods, so heat build up should be minimised. I'll keep an eye on it though....

I hope you are hiding the D4 when people come to look at the D2. As good as the D2 looks, it definitely looks dated against the D4.

I fitted a GOE Compressor Protection Plate to my MY14 today. It doesn't appear to sit the same as others I have seen on here??

I had to bend the tab under the chassis rail to get the slot to reach the front mounting bolt.

Others on here have had trouble with not enough clearance under the compressor itself. I seem to have a huge gap under the compressor, even to say it unnecessarily compromises ground clearance, and the guard shape does not form to the compressor shape at all?

The low slung nature of the guard is going to act as a big scoop on the beach:(:(:(

Just do what I did with my D3, take it down a couple of tracks. They happily fold up and protect the doors. A warning though, you need to be prepared to enter and exit the car through the window:wasntme::D
