Others on here have had trouble with not enough clearance under the compressor itself. I seem to have a huge gap under the compressor, even to say it unnecessarily compromises ground clearance, and the guard shape does not form to the compressor shape at all?


The low slung nature of the guard is going to act as a big scoop on the beach:(:(:(

Definitely something not quite right there. It looks to be across too far inboard maybe?
I took a shot of mine from the front and the shape of the guard seems to be better aligned with the compressor and that vertical tab bolted to the chassis rail more perpendicular to the bottom plate of the guard:

Hi David.
Do you have sliders or steps on yours? Your front photo shows that the plastic sill trim has been squashed and deformed so you can bolt the guard up to the sill itself. I have OEM steps that mount in the gap above the plastic sill and must mean the outboard edge of the guard sits lower?

You can see the (dealer fitted) OEM steps where the plastic trim panel has been cut away to let the step outrigger mount in the gap above the plastic trim panel. When fitting the GOE guard is the guard meant to be wound tight up onto the sill deforming the plastic panel??

The steps in themselves are not the issue. The issue is the plastic panel. Does it have to be squashed or cut away?

(Yes in this configuration I have to make some spacers to clamp the step outrigger as at the moment one mounting point is hanging free.)

Chris, the 2nd photo David posted looks to be the same configuration as you (OEM step + GOE guard)

The plastic guard does not look to be cut away or even squashed in Admiral's photo so it's difficult to tell what the issue is.

Hi Chris,
No sliders or steps on mine (yet - they are on the way) but I don't think I had to deform the plastic sill at all. As per admiral's (thanks Scott) fitting with the steps like yours, should sit pretty well flush. It's a bit hard to see, but comparing his with yours it does look like the screw in the rear mounting hole is positioned further forward in the slot ?

Is it just me or is the bend profile quite different. Starting from the left you have a flat tab then a vertical tab then it angles downwards where Davids seems to stay horizontal at that point.

I had to wait for a new batch to be manufactured. Despite me asking about the possibility that the new batch MAY have some different fold angles, Gordon has assured me that the guard fits.......:(

Always a bit hard to tell with photos potentially taken from different angles but it does look like that to me too..

Edit: Chris, I think I might have it. In below pic of mine, on the outboard edge, only the more central or front screw is required. The back screw hole doesn't line up very well and may be the cause of the distortion. I dug out the instructions and confirms only one screw required:
"Note that the GOE plate has two holes along the edge that mates to the undersill. Only ONE of these is required, depending on year and model of your vehicle."

Hi David.
Both bolt holes line up so both could be used, but I have to retain one of the original bolts to hold the steps on, or make some spacers so the bolt will clamp the guard and then the steps above the plastic trim. The guard sites fairly even along the plastic trim panel so heaving down on one end is going to distort the entire guard.

The key issue is at the front. The outboard edge is hard against the plastic trim panel and I had to use a piece of wood to wedge the front of the guard high enough to engage the front mounting slot into the mounting bolt. Even then there is a U shape in the front of the guard which will act as a scoop. Your guard sits flat across the front.
