Chris, that compressor guard looks good. It has similar features to my APT one.
Something to consider is drain holes/slots and ventilation holes/slots.
That way you can more easily clean out between the plate and plastic cover without removal.

And for the sun visor, if you're interested to make another I would buy one.
Send me a PM if you're interested. I'm happy to take care of painting etc.
I meant to ask about when you posted before.

    Cheers,
    Scott

    Shroud

Righto lads. I'll collate some material and postage costs and post it up here. They take about 24 hours to print on the 3D printer so it will be a slow process to make multiple items, so they won't be ready tomorrow or anything...

The shrouds will be supplied as raw printed black ABS plastic. They could be installed "as is", or improved with spray putty, a sand smooth and then painted whatever colour you wished .

I'll ask for PMs of interest when I have some costs together.

    Cheers,
    Chris

Fab'd up a compressor guard last weekend. Made from 6mm steel plate. Could probably have gone 4-5mm but that is what the steel supplier had ready to hand. Sits nice a flush under the compressor. Is getting some paint now, ready for final fitting and a play in the dunes this weekend....
Very nice Chris. Well done! If you haven't painted it yet, I think I can help improve your design and lessen the chance, although remote, of bolt sheer if you hit something solid front on. In your second picture you can see a hole in the chassis rail. Welding a tab out over that with a large stubby locating pin welded in to your plate, would provide a lot more mounting strength. You can just see it in this pic.

If you have painted it... then a pic of the finished product please?
    Cheers, Mungus.

    Hi Mungus.
I actually had intention to include a locating pin into that hole but my plate ended up a bit short under the the chassis rail to incorporate the pin. My bolt up to the hole in the side of the chassis ended up being much more substantial than I originally hoped, so I didn't pursue the pin option further. Good suggestion though!
    Thanks
    C

Here is my compressor guard all fitted up.
I bent the 6mm steel plate by cutting a slot with an angle grinder, which forces a fold line when encouraged with a FBH. I then welded back along the fold slot to stiffen it up again. With thinner steel you can get shrinkage that warps the fold, but I dd not get any movement with this plate.

As suggested by Scott above, a couple of holes along the bottom plate may be beneficial for drainage but I will see how I go for now. The fold up at the front is not as pronounced as the photos perhaps suggest, and not as high as the APT guard. I don't think there would be any ventilation issues.

Please excuse the average paint job. It was mainly about getting some paint on it so I could get it fitted up for a trip this weekend.... Unfortunately the gloss black brings out my awesome welding skills .

I stuck a thin rubber sheet on top of the tab that sits under the chassis rail to deal with any differential movement between the chassis & body.

I'll measure up my cut out template and post up next week.

Re the Touchscreen Shrouds, I will be setting up a Group Buy thread early next week.

    Have fun.
