    New floor drain hole :-)

I went out to the Pyrenees ranges in Vic last weekend in the D3, i pulled over to let a couple of dirt bikes past and they told me i had a stick hanging out from under the car. i said thanks and kept driving to a flat area and pulled a rather large stick out from under the car and didn't think anything more of it. Today while changing the oil i decided to fit the GOE rods i had sitting there for the last 6 months and decided to have a look where the stick went in case it damaged anything. It seems i now have a drain hole in the floor about 60mm in diameter
Not sure if i should ring the insurance company or just weld a plate over it??

I would count up my no claim bonus and my excess and figure out whether it is worth claiming.
Seeing there is nobody to recover from AFAIK the insurance company will consider it "at fault"
Personally I would get a piece of aluminium some Sikaflex 227 and some rivets and fix it. Welding would mean quite a bit of disassembly and cost as the inside would probably have to be stripped around the area.

Panel shop said about 2 grand to strip the interior and weld in a plate, otherwise they suggested if i wanted to do it cheap because its pretty round get a rubber grommet and sikaflex it in and spray it in underbody spray.
Its under the drivers seat too

    As others posted
Imagine trying to tell your workmates your bottom was very sore because a stick came out of the chair,I dont thing they would buy it
Luckily its a repair you can deal with.
A mate once ran off the road in a kingswood wagon,he ran over a road sign, the post came up thru the transmission tunnel and peirced the roof narrowly missing his head and shoulder!!!!

i heard something but was going to look at the top of the hill, when the motorbikes said it was a stick i didnt think too much of it cos ive had bigger stuck before and just pulledit out. i screwed some 3mm plate under there and covered it with stick on flashing then sprayed underneath with under body spray. thats my temporary fix that ill probably never change
BTW people who design stuff need a kick in the head, cant pull the seat out cos the seatbelt is attached and the access panel provided doesnt line up with anything???? at least i could see the bolt i suppose
